Tree Project

SCROLL DOWN

Tree Project

By putting a case around art we are stating it has value. We protect and attempt to preserve its natural and original state because it has artistic, historical and cultural importance. We encase the Mona Lisa in bullet proof glass because of the constant threat of theft, vandalization and destruction.

The Tree Project will entail temporarily encasing select trees in parks throughout Los Angeles in 2” thick, 40’ - 60’ tall, clear plexi glass display boxes of various dimensions.  The casings will have open tops allowing the trees to breath and flourish in their temporary environment.

The project is deliberately temporary, reflecting the idea of impermanence. The trees and surrounding area will be carefully protected during the construction and duration of the installation.  Upon removal, the environment will be restored to its natural condition.

Apple Project

Apple Project

Our education system is struggling to make ends meet by cutting extra-curricular classes like art and music, risking the opportunity to cultivate self-expression and self-discovery in our children when it is our responsibility to be feeding their minds at a vital age.

The Apple Project entails creating fourteen 5’ tall apples with a bite taken out of each consecutive one.  Apples painted by 3rd Grade students from fourteen different elementary schools will be placed around the city for public view and appreciation with plaques listing the names of the students and the schools who participated.

It’s our responsibility to celebrate our city’s youth and commemorate the creative spirit of youthfulness, to give our children a voice and honor them by providing them an opportunity to have a positive impact on our community.  Let’s bring hope to our city during a time of economic uncertainty through the creative voice of our children, our future.
